Guided Experiences

Experience the best of Berea, guided by Berea’s best! The following options are designed for groups of up to 15 people, and include lodging at Happiness Hills Farm and some meals, as listed in package descriptions. The rates listed are totals for the groupMore customized packages can be negotiated for larger groups, groups with special needs, or groups especially focused on a particular event or idea.
Each of our Guided Experience guests receives a complimentary canvas tote with a “Happiness Hills Farm” T-shirt and a CD-ROM of photos taken during their stay.

MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC!
A three-day guided experience in regional music and the culture that surrounds it.   $3,000 plus taxes

  • Learn to play a song or two on the Appalachian Dulcimer (student dulcimers provided as needed), with two hours of instruction by world-class performer (and owner of Happiness Hills Farm), Jennifer Rose
  • Visit dulcimer maker Warren A. May at his shop in Berea
  • Special entry and preferential seating at “Jammin’ on the Porch” (Thursdays only), a weekly gathering of regional musicians and audience
  • VIP visit to Berea College’s Appalachian Center
  • Learn about Shape Note singing, and then sing along with Berea’s local Shape Note singers
  • Meet & Greet with Berea College’s Bluegrass Ensemble and their Director, Al White
  • Private concert with one of Berea’s fine traditional musicians or ensembles
  • Dinner at historic Boone Tavern Hotel

ALL ABOUT ART & ARTISANS
A three day guided tour of the finest arts and craft studios and shops in the area, along with hands-on experiences in several art forms.   $3,500 plus taxes

  • Guided visit to the Kentucky Artisan Center, with lunch included
  • VIP tour of Berea College’s Craft Industries
  • Guided visit to College Square shops & studios
  • Guided visit with “meet the artisan” experiences in Old Town Artisan Village in west Berea
  • Tour and hands-on pottery experience in a local ceramics studio

  • Dance performance at Happiness Hills by world-renowned youth troupe, The Berea Festival Dancers

  • Fishing at a local reservoir (individual licenses required)
  • Campfire and grilling at Happiness Hills
