The Great Pause: Week 3

The “outside” world is silent, as tense as a banjo string. I know it is taking its toll on everyone, even the self-assured introverts who jokingly said they were so ready for social distancing.
I wonder what life will be like when this is over.

Jennifer’s journal, excerpts from March 27 – April 2, 2020
Day 15 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #14): The Escobars put in a foundation for a flagpole at Harmony Center, mow the lawns, and enjoy some old videos of when the girls were small
Day 16 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #15): The flagpole is set in place, the raised beds are installed, a drain is repaired at the grandparents’ house and there’s time for a little “porch-sitting” before heading home to discover that Lydia has turned herself into a deer
Day 17 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #16): it’s a beautiful day at Happiness Hills! Besides spending some time outdoors, Jennifer opens her computer to struggle with registering for business relief funding
Day 18 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #17) The Escobars run some errands for the grandparents, Jennifer takes a little walk with her father, and the family chills at home in the evening
Day 19 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #18): it’s a cold day at Cerro Alegre, so it’s perfect for some housework and time by the fire
Day 20 of the Great Pause (it’s mislabeled as #19): The Escobars’ elderly dog, Shadow, decides to play a little, there’s shepherd’s pie for supper, and the finishing touches are applied to a new dance costume
Day 21 of the Great Pause: it’s time for sourdough bread again, there are flowers springing forth all over the farm, Lydia and Jennifer decide it’s time for DIY bangs, and Gate House gets a new roof
